Here is a question: this is the 3rd time you've written a book about music (my favourite subject). Would you ever like to write about football again?

I can't imagine writing a book about football. Music seems to be a richer subject for me - or at least one that doesn't feel exhausted. I said everything I had to say about football in the one book.

With Juliet, Naked you have moved away from the first person narrator and from London for the first time. Was this daunting or liberating?

Actually, that was one of the points, initially. I'd started a first- person narrative set in London, and it all felt a bit too over-familiar, especially as the narrator was young - I'd just done Slam, and I needed refreshment. So the third-person, out-of-London experience was great.

Following on from Fever Pitch and 31 songs have you considered doing an full on autobiography and also is there anyone that you would want to write a biography about. Sorry, I know this is meant to be about Juliet Naked but I live in Japan and I've not managed to get my hands on a copy yet. Thanks from Andy.

Hi Andy - you can ask about what you want! No, no full-on autobiography, possibly ever, but certainly not until my career is drawing to a close! After Fever Pitch, anything else I wrote about myself would have to concern itself more or less exclusively with work, and I haven't done enough yet. I'd write Arsene Wenger's biog if he asked me.

Hello - what is your favourite displacement activity when you are supposed to be writing?

I play a lot of computery games - Solitaire, a game called Zuma on my iPod. But the last year or two I've been spending a lot of time on mp3 blogs. That occupies the odd half-day of work - and I don't even think it's time wasted.

Dear Mr. Hornby! What gave you an impetus to conceive the idea of "A Long Way Down"? I love all of your books but this particular one is my Bible. Did your parents|relatives put pressure on you to choose any particular profession that you didn`t feel like getting engaged in? Thank you so much!!! Please, keep up your work, You are matchless!

Thanks, Anna. I live near a well-known suicide spot in London, and eventually I wondered what would happen if suicidal people bumped into each other while they were contemplating taking their own lives. Would it affect the outcome? And then I realised that it would be a good framework to write about a lot of things that interested me. But no, my parents never put any pressure on me to do any particular job. They always seemed amazed when anybody agreed to pay me anything, whatever the work...
Thank you all
